Terms of Use

First Time in Japan · Effective September 16, 2026

By downloading or using First Time in Japan, you agree to these Terms of Use.

What the app provides

First Time in Japan is an informational travel handbook. It offers practical guidance for common situations first-time visitors may face in Japan, including arrival tasks, payments, trains, food, etiquette, and emergencies. Some pages are free. The rest unlock with a one-time purchase.

Practice simulators

The app includes practice tools for Visit Japan Web, restaurant ticket machines, train ticket gates, and Shinkansen tickets. These simulators are for learning only. They are not connected to any government website, railway company, or restaurant system. Nothing you type in a simulator is submitted, saved as a real application, or used to buy a real ticket.

Not professional advice

The app is for general information only. It is not legal, immigration, medical, or financial advice. Laws, apps, fares, and procedures can change. Always verify critical information with official sources, your embassy, hotel, airline, or qualified professionals. Complete real Visit Japan Web, visa, and customs steps on official government sites.

Emergency numbers

Emergency contact numbers (including 110, 119, and visitor hotlines) are provided for convenience. In a real emergency, call local emergency services immediately and follow instructions from authorities.

Purchases

Some content requires a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple. There is no subscription. Pricing, billing, refunds, and restore purchases follow Apple's App Store terms unless otherwise required by law.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the app, attempt to reverse engineer it, or redistribute its content except as permitted by applicable law.

Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the content is complete, current, or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the app or reliance on its content, including any practice simulator.

Changes

We may update the app or these terms from time to time. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised terms.
